GCI Impact Strategist Implementer

I spent 20-odd years in advertising and marketing agencies, mostly in London (with Publicis, McCann and others) and working on clients across the technology, automotive and financial services sectors.

It was in one of those agencies that I met my wife, Jacqui, and she persuaded me it would be a sound idea to take a year out from our careers, buy a boat and sail across to the Caribbean and back.

On our return, our priorities and aspirations had shifted a bit, and we moved to Dorset where I spent most of a decade in client-side marketing before founding Troposphere.

My GC Index profile says I'm a Strategist | Implementer, meaning I'm motivated to 'map and build the future'. I'd say that I love making things that are functional or delightful - and ideally both.

GCI Impact Play Maker Polisher

The first half of my career was spent in the advertising industry, running the international divisions at Upward Brown Media and at Total Media - where I latterly became Operations Director.

In this role I worked with the leadership team on the strategic repositioning of the business, and oversaw the internal change management that this demanded - and I had my eyes opened to the transformative power of executive coaching.

As a consequence, I decided to switch paths, get myself qualified as an executive coach, and set up my own coaching practice. I am a GC Index partner (my profile is Playmaker | Polisher) and also accredited with Extraordinary Leader, Prophet, Clifton Strengths and other tools for evaluating performance and potential.

My coaching invariably involves aspects of wellbeing, as I believe it is a pre-requisite for performing at our best. This dovetails with my passion for yoga (I'm a qualified yoga instructor) and I often combine proven coaching methods with yoga-based techniques when working with my clients.

About the troposphere

The troposphere is where we live. It’s where the weather happens. Where our climate is changing.

It is about eight miles thick on average. On a planet with a diameter of 8,000 miles, that’s equivalent to the thickness of a postage stamp on a football.

It might be an idea to take care of it.
